Candles and Candlemaking
The easiest and safest way to make beeswax candles. Suitable for all ages. No molten wax used. Uses only beeswax sheets and the appropriate wick.

Instructions for Rolled Candles

  1. Decide on the finished length of your candle (One 16" x 8" sheet, when rolled lengthways has a diameter of just over 1").
  2. Use the size of square braided wick one size smaller than the diameter of your finished candle.
  3. Cut the wick 1/2" longer than the sheet and place it 1/4" in from one edge.
  4. Carefully turn up the edges of the wax and fold over the wick.
  5. Begin rolling, ensuring the ends of the candle are square. If you roll out of square, simply unroll and start again.
  6. The final edge of the sheet can be secured by warming the wax gently near a radiator and pressing carefully with the fingertips. Alternatively, a few small spots of wax glue can be used along the length of the edge.

Tips and Ideas.

  • The sheets should be kept at room temperature for at least 24hours before use to ensure the wax is supple.
  • Work in a warm room. Alternatively, hold the sheet close to a hairdryer or radiator for a few seconds.
  • To make tapered candles, cut the sheet slightly at an angle.
  • To finish the top of the candle, a pleasing effect can be achieved by dipping in molten beeswax.
  • To make candles with a larger diameter, add extra sheets into the rolling process.
